9/22/2026

By HEITH MITCHELL
Executive Director of Missions

We are excited to introduce you to four new missionaries in your support here in Texas.
Kevin Molloy began engaging the community of McDade in July.  McDade is near Elgin. Kevin has decades of experience in pastoring and church planting. He is also an art teacher and potter.  There are 34 gathered in his and his wife Cathy’s home. They are about to move to the local school.
Justin Owens is beginning to gather a group in his home at Ennis this month. Justin has worked for the mission office, pastored and been your missionary in Estonia. He and his wife, Crystal, are excited about this mission out of Pathway Baptist Church. Justin owns a web business, works for Nelson University and teaches at Liberty University. Justin is a graduate of BMA Theological Seminary.
Oscar Toledo, with his wife, Ahybeth by his side, are starting their mission in Alvin, south of Houston. Oscar has many decades of experience in pastoring both here in the US and in Venezuela. Oscar has also taught seminary for many years.
Ethan Yates is beginning a new mission in Alvarado this month. He and his wife Krysta are active disciple makers. Pray for them as they move from Grandview to Alvarado. Ethan is a graduate of BMA Theological Seminary.  He has served as a pastor over music and youth at several churches.

Will you join me in prayer for these families and these new missions?

Prayer Needs:
Please pray for us because problems will always come to spoil our efforts in the Lord’s work.

One of our members, Amara, recently shared some big news with us: she is pregnant! I can’t stop thinking about her and everything she is facing right now. She is at a critical point in her residency training. She is about to graduate and is applying for her next program. On top of that, she is already caring for a 5-year-old. Everything seems daunting and overwhelming.

Yet, when she shared the news with us, she did so with great joy and a tremendous sense of gratitude. I truly admire her faith and am amazed by God’s strength in her life as she faces such a challenging season. Her joy and gratitude have been a real encouragement to all of us.

Prayer Needs:
Please pray for God’s strength and power to keep our members for this stressful season. Let us continue to trust in God’s provision and keep looking up to Him no matter what.

Man, we are doing really well. Visitors are coming every week, and our attendance has grown 15 percent to 20 percent this year. We have seven people scheduled to be baptized in September. Our backpack and shoe giveaway was so fun, and we had so many volunteers, not just from our church, but from Howard Payne Students and from the community also.

Prayer Needs:
Please pray that the Lord send more youth as we put forth efforts to draw them to our church.

We are pleased to be able to help The Lions Club with their different fundraisers and drives they have had this summer. It has been a wonderful way to help our community. Please pray that our partnership with The Lions Club continues to be fruitful for both of us.

Prayer Needs:
Please pray that new people will come to our church.

The mission is supporting Brother Juan’s family. They had a new member in the family who was born with a heart condition. The boy’s name is Juan Camilo, and he hasn’t left the hospital since he was born. We try to call them every day, bring them food at the hospital and share the word with them. Thank God, Juan Camilo is improving every day.

Prayer Needs:
We ask for prayers for the families, for Juan Camilo, for the brothers who met with us and are detained, for my daughter Michel to find work in the field she is studying (law).

Marshall and Maria are a couple in their thirties who’ve been attending our church regularly for about six months. About three months ago, I met with them to discuss church membership and in the process, realized they didn’t have an understanding of the gospel. I explained it and had them read a great short book that walks through it and then followed up. There was still a feeling that being a Christian meant being a good person or praying regularly. So, I thoroughly walked through the gospel summary I use in each sermon (see nutshell image), explaining several Scriptures, and I was thrilled to see God pull back the veil and grant them repentance and faith. They both prayed and acknowledged their sin and repentance and asked Jesus to save them! We’ve begun talks about baptism, church membership and discipleship.

Prayer Needs:
Please pray for God’s financial provision for our church for our remaining 15 months of this “planting phase”, and that we steward our resources very well.

Greetings from Nueva Vida en Cristo in Tyler. I’m so excited to share with you that we had three people get baptized and one child dedication! Somebody out there has helped us pray for that. Thank you! We are having new families come to our worship services and discipleships. Our ladies are doing a phenomenal job teaching the new kids coming to our worship services while I preach to the rest of the congregation. They are really coming together to serve in all areas, and the men are starting to participate a bit as well. We started Evenings of Sharing on Wednesday nights, and we are having young adults come and share what Christ is doing in their lives. Lots of great stuff happening, praise the Lord!

Prayer Needs:
Please keep praying for those who still need to be baptized and pray that the Lord guides us as we grow.

PORT ARTHUR MISSION

[email protected]

Last month I shared that the Lord had opened a new door for our plant and I am excited to share what that is with you. Over the last couple of years, we have built a relationship with a local church in Port Arthur called PA City Church. Over the last couple of months as I looked at where our plant was, the Lord made it abundantly clear that He was moving us into a new direction. We have now partnered with City Church to plant in south Port Arthur. This is the heart of historic PA that sadly, has largely been abandoned by evangelical churches as the area became the “bad part of town”. The Lord has burdened us and City Church to take the hope and light of the gospel into the darkness and we are excited to see Him move in people’s lives!

Prayer Needs:
Pray for clear direction as we look to south Port Arthur and seek the Lord in this new direction. Pray for Him to open doors and for the soil to be ready to receive the gospel.

Thank you to the Liberty Baptist Association Sunbeams who fundraised to send our kiddos gift cards! They are enjoying them very much!
