July 2026 Missions Update

7/20/2026

By HEITH MITCHELL
Executive Director of Missions
Your Texas Missions held its 8th Annual Missionary Family Retreat June 8-10. This year, we were in Galveston with 100 present. Most current missionaries and their families were joined by past missionaries. We were challenged and encouraged by missionaries who finished this year. These are Tim Alba of The Bridge Church in Seagoville, Brad Holcomb of Redemption Hill Church in Fort Worth and Chris Driver of Oasis Church in Levelland. These churches were celebrated during our time together. We were all encouraged by past missionaries. Other speakers were Gary Southard, Elvis Garcia, Todd West and me. Jose Ramirez, pastor of Fair Park Baptist Church in Tyler, led our music. We had meals and fun together while each family had free time. This was Elvis’ first year leading the retreat. He and our team did great.

Thank you BMA of Texas family for making the care of your missionaries possible!

We had a couple leave because they wanted to be part of a bigger church, but we also gained new people who are happy and excited to be part of what’s going on here.

Prayer Needs:
We have a baby due in November.

One of our leaders called me so excited about leading a person to Christ for the first time. They appreciated the teaching on evangelism and said it gave them confidence to do it.

Prayer Needs:
Please pray that God will give wisdom and discernment for when and where to plant the next church.

This month has been encouraging as we continue to grow together. We kicked off our summer outreach by distributing gospel pamphlets in the community, which gave us opportunities to meet new people and invite them to connect with our group. We are thankful for the joy and unity God has given us as we went as a team along with each other.

Prayer Needs:
Pray that the seeds planted during our summer outreach will bear fruit and that God will continue to open doors for gospel conversations and new relationships.

We are a missional group. At this time we are focused on the local “Jerusalem” around us, while the church is actively supporting mission work in China and Ukraine.

Prayer Needs:
Moving forward with our permanent residence process, which is expensive and beyond our budget. Please pray and spread the voice for anyone who may support us. Also, pray for my physical health and the approval of our residence request.

We were praying for a man who is related to some brothers in the church and God answered the prayer. Now he is here and grateful Emmanuel attends the church.

Prayer Needs:
I am always grateful for your support, and your prayers are important and necessary. I am praying for the salvation of several people who attend church but are not yet saved. Please help me so that God's love and power may save these souls through hearing the gospel of Jesus.

We were gathered at home and God allowed us to share the gospel to a man named Baltazar who accepted Jesus as his Savior

A layperson led around 20 of our members in a multi-Sunday outreach and evangelism training which included biblical teaching on evangelism, training on writing and sharing a testimony and refreshers on the gospel and sharing it. We printed door hangers. We ordered pouches with church info and the gospel on them and filled them with a gospel tract, a church brochure, a church card, a gospel keychain and candy (see pic). On the last Sunday of the month, 13 of us went out in teams into various parts of town. We connected with 200 homes through either door hangers (when no one answered), pouches (when they did), conversations and even prayer with multiple people. We plan to do this again, but our goal is to equip our people to do this regularly on their own. To that end, we have a resource wall with lots of outreach supplies for our people to take for free.

Prayer Needs:
Please pray for our church to be passionate about prayer and eager for evangelism!

BMA pastors and churches thank you so much for all the care you provide us. The planter’s retreat was relaxing and recharging! We are happy to report new families visiting our worship service. We also started our first women’s church wide meeting bringing together ladies of all ages and walks in life to be on mission for Christ. Some also attended a training Sister Wendy brought to our church ladies this month. There was even a profession of faith during this training. Praise God for our ladies!

Prayer Needs:
Please pray that we may connect new families visiting and that they may decide to commit to Christ and our church. Pray for baptisms!

Two contrasting events. Shortly before the Venezuelan earthquakes, in the town of La Guaira (the most affected area), a festival was being celebrated called “Saint John Baptist.” They were singing “earth trembles” to the beat of drums. The earth shook, and many people died beneath the collapsing buildings. In another location, at an evangelical church, a prayer service was being held when the roof of the temple collapsed, but everyone survived, including those who had not attended the church. I have not received any reports of Christians dying in the tragedy. Glory to God.

Prayer Needs:
Those in Venezuela, who suffered in two earthquakes.
